Today Jonathan and Drew Scott, known as the Property Brothers, will keynote the opening session of RootsTech along with Steve Rockwood, CEO of Family Search International. The Expo Hall opens this morning at 10:00 a.m. New this year is Coaches’ Corner where individuals can receive guidance pertaining to their brick wall research. The scheduled times reached capacity during preregistration, but the Family History Library professionals and volunteers are available during extended library hours to “coach” you during your time at RootsTech and all throughout the year. This is a FREE service.

Also new this year is the Heirloom Show-and-Tell where you can bring a unique antique, heirloom, or photo, and have experts look at it and tell you about its history.

Innovation Alley is not to be missed! It’s the main reason for RootsTech’s existence, to showcase the new technology and product. You’ll have the opportunity to speak with the innovators and entrepreneurs of these upcoming tech tools for family history and genealogy.

The Discovery Zone is always fun and the Demo Theater will provide an opportunity to listen to vendors about their products.

This evening the Conference Center will host the opening event, Music, It Runs in the Family from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m..

This opening event will feature music and stories of the Rodgers and Hammerstein legacy. The performance will feature music by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and special guest soloist Dallyn Vail Bayles and memories by Rogers and Hammerstein, with narration by Oscar “Andy” Hammerstein III.

Although Family Discovery Day is filled to capacity, RootsTech passes are still available. Registration opens at 7 a.m.
